1. Brochures
APREL has several useful brochures/booklets for young people seeking knowledge about Religious Life, and information about how to proceed with vocational discernment. These brochures also make helpful reading for any serious-minded Catholic who wants the truth about the "forgotten vocation".
Brochure Texts:
- "Do You Have a Religious Vocation?"
- Religious Life - It's Meaning, Marks and Methods
- Some Religious Communities have vocation packages/brochures via mail.
2. Audio/Visual
APREL has produced a uniquely informative and inspiring 50-minute video on the Religious Vocation in the light of Church teaching. Produced in 1995 with the co-operation of several religious communities in Australia - active, semi-active and contemplative, - the video, "The Priceless Pearl" features the lives of religious and gives the Church's answers to such questions as:
"What is Religious Life? Where did it come from?
"Why is the Religious Life so necessary to the Church's life and holiness?"
"Why should we regard this life as 'the pearl of great price'?"
"What forms does it take? Where is it being lived?"
APREL plans to convert this useful resource into DVD format and make it available for families, priests, retreat centres, vocation chaplains and schools.
